Roscrea 1-12 Moycarkey-Borris 1-11

A goal three minutes from time helped Roscrea to a slender victory over Moycarkey-Borris in the third round of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship at Templemore last night.Davin Flynn was Roscrea’s hero with his 57th-minute strike which ended a superb display as he also scored five points from play for the winners.

Moycarkey looked to have won a contest in which the sides were level nine times, when Conor Hayes netted for them in the 56th minute but from the puck-out Sam Conlon set up Flynn and he blasted to the Moycarkey net for the match-winning score.

Moycarkey led 0-6 to 0-4 after having the better of the first half but seven wides were to cost them dearly. The sides were still neck and neck when Hayes’s goal looked to have given Moycarkey a winning lead but Flynn’s immediate response, followed by a Jamie Bergin point, put Roscrea in control.

In the closing minutes, Pa Carey had a Moycarkey point but time ran out on them. Davin Flynn was Roscrea’s match-winner with Liam England, Diarmuid Fitzgerald, Conor Bergin, and Jamie Bergin other key players.
