Mid Tipperary Under 21 B Football Championship

Moycarkey Borris commenced their Under 21 Football Championship with a five point victory over Gortnahoe Glengoole in Gortnahoe on Sunday last. Gortnahoe started the scoring straight away with two quick points in the first two minutes. Moycarkey had to wait until the fourth minute when Micheal Foley pointed their first score with their second score in the eighth minute from Kieran Cummins. In the tenth minute a goal from Gortnahoe restored their lead. Jack Hackett quickly replied with a point and Tom Hayes netted the ball for a goal. Moycarkey Borris commenced the second quarter with a single point margin and continued to successfully add a further five points to their scoreboard to Gortnahoe’s single point finishing at the half time whistle; Moycarkey Borris 1-8 Gortnahoe Glengoole 1-3.

Gortnahoe Glengoole opened the scoring again in the second half with a point in the thirty fifth minute. The freedom of play Moycarkey had enjoyed in the first half was no more, as Gortnahoe took more control of the play and each ball was a tough contest. Scores were equally scarce with the next score of the game in the fifty seventh minute when Micheal Foley netted the ball to cushion Moycarkey’s margin. The final two scores of the game went to Gortnahoe to reduce the margin back to five points finishing the game, Moycarkey Borris 2-8 Gortnahoe Glengoole 1-6. In the next round, Moycarkey Borris will play Moyne Gaels in Littleton on Friday, February 12th at 8pm.
