On Saturday evening last Moycarkey Borris and their supporters travelled to New Inn to start their Senior Championship. While this was a round two game for most other clubs including Carrick Swan, Moycarkey Borris had had a bye in the first round. Carrick Swan had recorded a victory over Moneygall in the first round so another victory here meant they were would win the group.

It was an all to play for game and with that in mind Moycarkey opened the scoring with two pointed frees from Kieran Morris. Carrick Swans replied with two pointed frees from Danny O’Hanlon. Further points from play from Aaron Dunne and Kevin Lanigan saw Carrick go in to a two point lead. A Conor Hayes point as we entered the second quarter, with a netted ball two minutes later put Moycarkey to the fore again. Moycarkey hit a purple patch and added a further four points; Pat Ralph (1) and Kieran Morris (3) to Carrick’s single point from Eric O’Halloran. On the twenty fourth minute points were exchanged and the first half was brought to a close when Kieran Morris and Danny O’Hanlon traded frees. Moycarkey Borris 1-9 Carrick Swan 0-8

Carrick with the aid of the breeze opened the second half scoring with two points from Eric O’Halloran and another from Danny O’Hanlon. Kieran Morris and Aaron Dunne in the thirty sixth minute traded points and again two minutes later. For the next ten minutes Moycarkey kept Carrick scoreless while adding three points to their score line, Kieran Morris (2) and Niall Heffernan (1). Frees were exchanged again at the fiftieth minute and as the game entered the final ten minutes Moycarkey had a margin of four points. Both teams added a further three points to their score line before substitute Damien McCarthy raised the green flag for Carrick as normal time ended. Due to an earlier heated break in play, causing the cessation of the game there was five minutes additional time and Carrick Swan used the time to equalise with a free from Danny O’Hanlon and a point from Aaron Dunne gave Carrick the second win they required, Carrick Swan 1-19 Moycarkey 1-18
