Moycarkey Borris continued their Senior Championship by travelling to Templetuohy to compete against Moneygall in the next round, on Sunday last. Moneygall and Moycarkey Borris both suffered defeats in the first round so it was a must win game for the teams. Moycarkey’s Niall Heffernan opened the scoring with a point in the first minute and quickly followed it with a ball direct into the back of the net. In the next seven minutes Pat Carey traded three points with points from Moneygall’s Mike Ryan, Philip Fanning and Willie Greene. The purple patch of scoring was over for the next ten minutes as both teams battled hard with the ball flowing from end to end. As we entered the final fifteen Moycarkey added a further five points from Tom Hayes (1), Kieran Morris (3) and Rory O’Regan (1) to Moneygall’s four points. Moycarkey Borris 1-9 Moneygall 0-7

Kieran Morris and Ger Kirwan traded opening points at the start of the second half. Kieran pointed again in the third minute but Moneygall’s reply this time was a goal by Adam Hogan. The deficit was now reduced to three points. Moycarkey added three more points to Moneygall’s single point as the game entered a stalemate until the twenty first minute when Adam Hogan again raised the green flag for Moneygall. This was Moneygall’s final score but Moycarkey Borris continued to add a further five points to their score line to take victory they required to avoid a relegation playoff. All focus is on the Mid Championship when we meet JK Brackens in a few weeks. Moycarkey Borris 1-19 Moneygall 2-9
