Loughmore Blitz Disappointing Moycarkey-Borris

Report from the Tipperary Star

Loughmore Castleiney had no trouble in getting their campaign back on track in the second game of the double header at the Ragg on Saturday evening, when they handed out a comprehensive hiding to Moycarkey Borris to record their first championship win of the season.

A very one sided affair, the Loughmore Castleiney men showed their shooting prowess throughout and apart from the 21 scores they did manage to rack up, they also hit ten wides in the hour, many of which could as easily have been scores.

Yes, this was a straight forward affair for the victors who continue to impress with their style of play. Their sticksmanship, even allowing for the blustery conditions, was quite impessive, and they used the ball very well indeed throughout the game. This was the case in the first half particularly, when they faced into the strong breeze, but still managed to be 1-10 to 0-4 to the good at the interval.

A three point headstart from the sticks of Liam McGrath, Ciaran McGrath and John McGrath suggested that Loughmore Castleiney would have it all their own way in this game – they did. Despite Kieran Morris and Pat Carey scores bringing Moycarkey Borris to within a point, Loughmore Castleiney struck 1-3 in five minutes to put real distance between the side – a void that Moycarkey Borris simply could not bridge.
