Moycarkey-Borris and Durlas Óg contested the Tom Murphy Mid Tipperary Under 16 A Football Final on Monday last May 9th in Holycross. On a wet evening, the opening exchanges were tight as the sides shared the opening six points. Moycarkey eventually got in to their groove and had edged in front by 0-7 to 0-4 at the interval. The second half was barely underway when Kyle Shelly pounced for the game’s opening goal to double Moycarkey’s advantage. Despite the best efforts of Durlas Óg, Moycarkey stayed in front by six points or more during the remainder of the second half until Darren Flood scored Moycarkey’s second goal in injury time to cap off an impressive display for the boys wearing red and yellow – final score Moycarkey Borris 2-12 Durlas Og 0-9. Afterwards, Mid Tipperary Coiste na Nog Chairman Martin Bourke presented the cup, which was kindly sponsored by Tom Murphy to the Moycarkey-Borris full-back and captain Tom Ryan.
